Amanda Peet

Amanda Peet is a gorgeous TV and movie actress with beautiful blue eyes, who became well known in America and around the world for her TV guest appearances on 'Law & Order' and 'Seinfeld' (as Linette) and a starring role in the romantic sitcom 'Jack & Jill' between 1999 and 2001.

She has subsequently confirmed her high-achieving position with more successful film and TV work and she was named one of People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful Women in the World.

Early Years

Amanda was born in January, 1972, in New York City. She has one elder sister. Her parents, father a lawyer, and mother a social worker, were divorced when Amanda was 18. She was educated at a Quaker school with a 4 year break when she was 7 and her family moved to London. She studied history at Columbia University and she received great encouragement there from the drama teacher to audition for acting school.

This she successfully did and after graduating from Columbia she studied for 4 years under Uta Hagen, the drama teacher, all the while keeping herself by working as a waitress. Finally she was recognised as the fine actress she is and she was cast in an episode of NYPD Blue. Amanda was on her way.

The Young Star

Her movie debut came in 1995 with a small role in 'Animal's Room' and then 'She's the One',memorably playing Jennifer Aniston's sister, and 'One Fine Day', with Michelle Pfeiffer. She co-starred in 'Origin of the Species' in 1998, and gave a sympathetic interpretation of an actress and fitness instructor who has been diagnosed with HIV in 'Touch Me' in the same year.

Amanda continued to establish and improve her reputation for fine acting performances. She was now being selected for high profile movies with big stars. In 2000 she appeared in 'Isn't She Great?' starring Bette Midler and she also starred opposite Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry in the comedy 'The Whole Nine Yards' in the same year.

Making A Name

From 2000 onwards, Amanda's career path has been very much upward and she found herself in demand for a variety of roles. After starring in 'Whipped' in 2000, as a woman carrying on relationships with three men all at the same time, she appeared in 2 thrillers in 2002, 'High Crimes' and 'Changing Lanes,' followed by the brilliant semi-comedy 'Igby Goes Down', in which she played the beautiful mistress of the father (played by Jeff Goldblum) of teen Igby (played by Keiran Culkin).

Her next big role was in 2003 in 'Identity' and in the same year an important supporting role in the romantic comedy 'Something's Gotta Give' (2003), playing the pert young girlfriend of an Romeo played by Jack Nicholson. .

The Established Star

After a character actresses's dream role as Will Ferrell's career-obsessed wife in Woody Allen's "Melinda and Melinda" in 2005, Amanda gave a beguiling and masterly performance in the romantic comedy 'A Lot Like Love' in 2005. She also had a well rounded supporting turn in the political movie 'Syriana' also in 2005. In the same year she garnered positively glowing reviews for her performance in New York's Public Theater production of 'This Is How It Goes,' which she joined only six weeks before opening night.

Amanda's name was for a while romantically linked to Brian Van Holt (who played Butchie on 'John From Cincinatti') but she is now happily married to screenwriter and novelist David Benioff Their daughter, Frankie, was born in 2007.

The omens look good for Amanda. She has a happy, secure family life and is now an established TV and Movie actress with an undeniable star quality. There seems no limit to what she can achieve.
